Peep this!

yaaay! My new snowboard and gear arrived in the mail yesterday just in time for Big Mountain to open up this weekend. I've been waiting for this for so long it's not even funny! Last night I stayed up late setting up the bindings on the board and getting just the right fit... I was just like a little kid at Christmas time. The stuff I ordered is pictured above, but the pictures do not do it justice. You have to see this thing in person. Seriously. Awesome doesn't even come close to describing it. Powder is calling my name...

Turkey Day

ok I realize it's been nearly a month since updating this blog, but I figured Thanksgiving deserved some mention. I got to see some family that I very rarely see (namely uncle Kurt) and got to meet some new family that came in from out of town. Best of all, I got to eat some of the best food I've had since coming home. I sat at the kids table, next to Noah and Kurt. We later decided to rename it to "the cool kids table." The turkey was perfect and the stuffing was wonderful, but perhaps the most delicious was the homemade organic pumpkin cheesecake (with extra booze.) I took home a few slices with me and I have a feeling they won't last long. After dinner, we observed that the turkey seemed to have the opposite effect on small children as Noah and Skye terrorized the house, jumping from couch to couch, throwing soccer balls, yelling and laughing. They finally settled down a bit when we stuck in MI3, which had to be turned waaay down so the adults could talk in the kitchen. Things got exciting during dessert, when one of the napkins got a little too close to one of the many candles littered throughout the house, and burst into flames. With a little quick thinking, it was thrown into the sink and sprayed out. Crisis averted. As the guests trickled out and the night got later, I got to see my uncle Bret get noticably drunk. It was kinda funny the way he kept asking me the same things over and over, but i answered enthusiastically each time. And to put a perfect ending to the night, it started snowing and continued to do so until the next morning. Looks like the mountain might have a chance of opening this weekend after all!
