There's a frog in my throat

yes, I've been sick now for 3 whole days, just in time for weekend misery. Ah well, at least it seems to be letting up a bit. I should be feeling fine before work starts again on Monday. Figures, huh?

Poetry by Liberty

here is a beautiful poem recently composed
by my little sister's creative genious. Enjoy!

letter for my unborn child

we made it through another one, you and i
another day, daughter, another night
you frighten me sometimes, truth be told
what you are is so much bigger
than the sole of your foot pressed against my insides
you are a soul immense
and unfathomable as the sea.
when you turn your head
the planets shift and i lose my up and down
i am the universe that surrounds you
you are the star that lights me from within
where was i?
from among these cosmic thoughts
float threads of absurdity
i wonder, how do i stack up as real estate?
do you find me spacious?
will the single bed do,
or were you hoping for a twin?
are you lonely or can you feel me always
the way i feel you even in my head sometimes
and oh it's crowded--
i imagine you peaceful,
with the perfect confidence
that is achieved through perfect ignorance
(and for this i envy you intensely)
i dare not say that you are mine--
though others do,
and so they believe.
the inescapable truth is this:
that i am wholly yours.
so be patient with me, daughter
for i will never be as perfect
as you are right now.
be gentle with me in my weakness
and look kindly on my failures--
which will be many.
you frighten me sometimes,
if truth be fully told.

O! Canada...

yay for another weekend in Calgary, Alberta! This time was by far better than last... even though it had potential to kinda suck, due to poor planning on our part. We almost didn't get tickets to the Flames game, which is the whole reason for going in the first place (among others) and we had just about given up hope. Then we were saved by a bartender at the French Maid. We had gone there to drink our sorrows away... but we told her our sob story and she gave us a few numbers to call for tickets. We ended up making it to the game after all, and WOW was it great. Calgary won 2-1 against their rivals, the Edmonton Oilers. My voice was hoarse the next day from all the yelling that I did. Then Sunday, before we headed home, we stopped off at the Calgary Zoo. it was pretty cool (my first zoo trip). Most of the exhibits were so-so, but there were these monkeys that must have been on crack or something because they could not sit still. They were a lot of fun to watch... probably could have stayed there all day watching those things. It was snowing on the way home which made me happy because it's so early, and lately winter in Montana has been a little lacking in the snow department. Snowboarding is just around the corner, and I'm anxious to check out what Canada has to offer in Whistler, B.C.
